I purchased 8 strands of 25ft C7 strands for my 9ft Christmas Tree. My question to you is can I add extra sockets to make each strand 50 count?

Sorry, no. You'll almost certainly create a fire hazard. Here are a couple of questions: Do your lightbulbs push into the socket or screw in? Also how many lights does each strand have now? That will help me decide what your best solution would be.

However, your best solution will probably be to buy more lights.

These draw a lot of power compared to modern LED lights that hardly draw any. When they say only to connect two sets, they're saying that the wires and plug are only capable of handling a certain amount of voltage. 25 5-watt bulbs makes 125 watts. Two plugged in series is 250 watts. Much more than that and you risk melting the insulation off the wires.

They're what I grew up with, and still one of my favorite configurations. But the only way to get more of these classic C-7 bulbs on your tree is to buy some more strands.

I'm sorry if that's not the answer you wanted, but I'd be a lot sorrier if you burnt down your house.
